California: A good example of broken government

CALIFORNIA - SHOWING THE COUNTRY JUST HOW BROKEN WE HAVE BECOME.

With a budget almost a month past due and both houses on vacation the real victim of the California budget crises is starting to emerge.  Governor Schwarzenegger, looking for a shock and awe effect has proposed paying state workers the federal minimum wage of $6.55 per hour.

The true shock will be felt by the hard working middle-class employee come payday.  While doing the right thing each and every day to help make the state run, they will be repaid with a drastic reduction in pay.  The awe will come when these hard working people join the large number of people struggling financially, choosing between gas and food and deciding just how late their house payment will be.

The hard truth is that the citizens of the state have come to expect this and have taken no real stand or action calling for their employees go back to work and get the job done.  Yes, that is right people of California the "leaders" in Sacramento are your employees.  You have elected them to represent you and to have your best interest in mind as the conduct the peoples business.  You and only you can demand their return and resolution to this problem.

Or will you allow the elitist Democratic leaders to do as they wish.  Will you allow them to forget that they although leaders, are servants of the people who elected them.  Will you allow them to forget that they are entrusted with the peoples business and not a political power grab that does nothing more then hurt those they serve.

The current situation in California is not caused just by those who sit in Sacramento, but also by you.  We elect and entrust in great numbers, but we hold accountable in small numbers.  Being a good citizen is more then just voting.  It is following the actions of those we have elected and in great numbers telling them when they have failed the people.

For any government large or small that is based on the premise of being for and by the people, must always have the peoples involvement.  All people in the state should take the five or ten minutes needed to send off any e mail or make a phone call demanding that the servants of the people return to Sacramento and do the peoples work.  Pass a budget with out making those who truly do the work suffer.
